The Calisthenics Skills Program is run by the Australian Calisthenics Federation to standardise terminology and technique across the sport. Pupils are taught syllabus suited to their age to ensure correct growth and development, combining elements of flexibility, fitness, coordination, musicality, deportment and poise. Participants can complete exams to provide an additional challenge and create a sense of achievement.

Participation in the skills program is at the pupil or parent’s discretion; it only becomes compulsory if a pupil wishes to compete in solos (not a requirement for 2022) or is aspiring to undertake the coaching program.

Classes for pupil skills can be undertaken mid-year or at the end of the year, dependent on coach availability and demand. Classes are generally held over four weeks prior to the exam dates. A class fee is to be paid weekly direct to the coach which covers the coaches fee and hall costs.
